How To Save Money On-Cut your auto insurance bills in half

When you are looking to save money on any subject your can, then insurance will be at the top of the list since we have to have it. Here is some options that you might want to consider that will help you to save money.

There are several ways to tinker with your auto insurance coverage to chop your premium to a bare minimum:

1 Drop your liability coverage to the minimum allowed by state law.

2 Drop your collision and comprehensive insurance.

3 Keep collision and comprehensive coverage but increase your deductible to $1,000 or more.

4 Drop your uninsured-motorist coverage.

How low can you go? You may be able to cut your car insurance bills in half by dropping your liability coverage from “recommended” limits of 100/300/50 down to 25/50/10 and eliminating collision, comprehensive and uninsured-motorist, or UM, coverage.

The numbers for liability coverage refer to dollar amounts, in thousands. Here’s how to decipher them:

First number: Bodily injury liability maximum for one person injured in an accident.

Second number: Bodily injury liability maximum for all injuries in one accident.

Third number: Property damage liability maximum for one accident.

We looked at how coverage would change for seven cars, calculating average national premiums for a 40-year-old single male driver. Policy limits of 100/300/50 assume a $500 deductible. We used model year 2004 for all quotes because drivers often drop collision and comprehensive insurance on older cars.

Consider the risk
Remember this: Dropping your car insurance to a bare minimum opens you up to substantial risk.

“You want to consider that very carefully. You’re trying to protect the assets you have,” says Robert Passmore, a spokesman for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, an industry trade group. If you have a house, savings and investments, they could be put at risk if you cause a large accident where damage exceeds your insurance limits. And if you’ve dropped your uninsured-motorist coverage, a driver with no insurance could wreck your finances, too.

Passmore notes that the most expensive coverage dollars are the first dollars. In other words, $100,000 in coverage does not cost twice as much as $50,000 in coverage. “It’s like getting a volume discount,” he says.

Another quick way to save money is to comparison shop and change companies based on price. Before you leap to another insurer, check its track record. You won’t receive more value for your insurance dollar if your new company has poor customer service. Many states release “complaint ratios” showing the relative number of consumer complaints against each company. Contact your state insurance department for that information.

Your state has a bottom line

Many states, but not all, have minimum liability limits of 25/50/10. Some have “no fault” auto insurance laws, meaning that your insurer must pay medical bills for you and your passengers regardless of who caused the accident. No-fault laws are intended to keep insurance fraud down.

There are alot of state agencies that can answer questions about this subject and I can tell you that it is worth taking the time to find them. Learning how to save money on insurance is a major step in saving money.

Here is a good article about how to save money on insurance. It was wrote by Jock Lain on ezinearticles. I hope you enjoy.

The health care costs have continued to rise with every succeeding year and this is quite common to the industry itself. Given the scenario the student health insurances are no difference. A lot of the college students tend to nurture the common idea that they don’t really need to have a health care insurance as there is nothing to worry about their health.

They have this confidence as they are young and are in one of the best physical conditions. But what they often don’t realize is that ignoring the health and health needs will actually invite serious health problems down the road. In such situations, saving money for student health insurance make certain that all the young adults get absolute care and can at the same time take necessary preventive steps to continue with a good health as they become adults.

Significance of Student Health Insurance Plans

Young students are a lot less likely to care for their health as they are enjoying the best physical conditions ever. Often the various health practices that they indulge in and the amount of exercise that they do ensure that they are in perfect shape. However a careless lifestyle and absence of any sort of preventive measures often lead them to the path of future medical complications. It is quite an unfortunate fact that young healthy adults are often diagnosed with cancer or other major kinds of health complications that put their entire life and future at stake.

But once Student Health Care insurance is bought, it means that these young adults are forced to get into the habit of going for regular check ups to medical professionals, which work as an effective and preventative health care measure. Often these check ups also come in handy in the sense that a lot of the potential health problems are diagnosed at a very early stage itself and can be stopped before they take the shape of a major complication. Moreover, taking good care of the health as a college student also in a way becomes a preventive measure that saves upon the lot of the future expenses related with major health problems that might occur.

How does the Student Health Center help?

A Student Health Center is a special medically equipped division run by most colleges and universities and is situated on the campus or the premise of the institution itself. These are efficient clinics that provide a host of foundational medical services that are commonly found at the medical check up clinics in general. These clinics offer regular check up for,

Injuries
Sickness
Birth control
Vaccinations
Disease testing

Most of the colleges charge a particular fee that is invested for the maintenance of these centers. On paying the fee every student gains the access to use the facilities of the student health center for all kinds of medical needs.

In fact the student health center at colleges is one of the most convenient ways in which the costs on health care insurance can be minimized.

There are various kinds of affordable student health insurance care plans offered by the International Student Organization.

How To Save Money On Insurance

If you’re looking for ways on how to save money on car insurance, you have to recognize there are a number of very important variables influencing your rate that are out of your hands. Such aspects include your age, gender and record of prior claims.

Despite that, there’s a lot you can do to score a lower price, and your choices carry more power than you might believe. Right here are 10 ideas guaranteed to help you secure the best rate possible on your car and motorbike insurance.

1Obtain far more than one price estimate before you commit.

“Company prices are very numerous, and it pays to shop on the market. You could easily wind up paying twice from one company to the next.
In order to save money on insurance get a knowledge of who the best priced service providers are. A bunch of the lower-priced companies have the best service rates.

Presently there are host of third party Web sites that allow you to comparison-shop by providing internet price quotes.  Such sites can be extremely useful.

2 Evaluate insurance fees before you buy your vehicle.

The model, make and age of your vehicle can have a serious impact on your policy quote. All else being the same, new, pricey or sporty cars and trucks will cost more to cover than older, less expensive and more practical automobiles. But you might find a considerable discrepancy even when comparing the expense to cover similar cars.

So if you have got a few models on your shortlist, get in touch with your carrier to see what price each vehicle commands. Doing so could eventually net you a windfall in discounts when the time comes to pay your payment.

3 Go big on deductibles.

If you will be prepared to yield a little with your deductible, you can wind up saving big on your rates. If you choose from a $250 to a $1,000 deductible, you can save approximately twenty five to forty percent on your policy.

4 Get rid of collision and/or comprehensive coverage on older vehicles.

If your older car has comp plus collision coverage, you might find yourself paying extra in coverage than the car is valued at. Take your comp and collision premium and add it up, then multiply it by ten. If your vehicle is worth less than that, don’t buy the coverage.

5 Mind your credit score.

An escalating number of carriers are considering credit ratings when making price calculations. Keep your credit score in tip-top shape by paying out monthly dues in a timely manner and by regularly examining that there are no listings on your history that do not belong to you.

6 Ask about low miles discounts.

Many carriers offer discounts to policyholders whose annual mileage is less than the norm. Perhaps you have a short commute. Or perhaps your involvement in the office car-pool results in fewer hours spent in your daily drive. Whatever the case, your low miles can score you a reduced rate with some organizations, so be positive to inquire about offered reductions.

7  Check into group coverage discounts.

Frequently, insurance companies offer discounts to policyholders who are affiliates of certain organizations or professions Ask for a list of these groups from your carrier to see if you qualify — you could possibly be surprised.

8 Always check every other discount that might be available.

Some service providers offer discounts to customers whose autos carry certain safety features, like anti-theft devices or motorized seatbelts. Others give lowered rates to senior folks, and to students whose grades meet certain requirements.

Some of the organizations that offer the highest discount rates have the highest rates, so don’t get too focused on discounts. Some high-priced companies offer high discounts, but at the end of the day you’re still paying more.”

9 Do not let your coverage lapse.

Actually a brief lapse in insurance can disqualify you from receiving discounts. They use lapses in coverage to increase your policy.

10 Installment payments usually cost more.

Most providers ask for an administration charge to pay in installments. One company surveyed levied a ten dollar charge per installment to those who opted to split up their bill. The solution? Pay your premium up front, if at all feasible.

Needless to say, this price is more considerable for those with small rates. If you’ve got a king-sized premium and feel you’d get a better rate of return by investing your funds elsewhere instead of having to pay up front, then the installment route will probably best suit your needs.

I hope this will help you in your quest to learn how to save money on insurance.
